Att flytta till Gotland: Drömmen om ett kreativt liv på ön

Moving to Gotland: The dream of a creative life on the island

Ulrika Stilling

A life in tune with nature's shifting seasons

Many who visit Gotland during a sunny week in July dream of staying forever. To actually take the step and move here is a decision that changes one's life rhythm. As a drone photographer, the move to the island has meant a deeper understanding of the Gotlandic landscape.

Life on the island "off-season"

When the last ferries in August have left Visby harbour, a special calm settles over the island. This is when the creative process really takes off. The fog over the alvar, the dramatic autumn storms whipping up the limestone dust, and the crisp winter light offer entirely different photographic opportunities than the clear blue summer sky.

Be inspired by the Gotlandic lifestyle:

Even if you don't live here all year round, you can draw inspiration from the Gotlandic "slow living" philosophy. In my shop, you'll find motifs that capture this very calm – that stillness that only comes when you are surrounded by sea on all sides.
